GMR Group, the owner of Delhi team in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has bought the Delhi franchise. The Uttar Pradesh and Haryana franchises have been picked by Noida-based real estate developer Lotus Greens and digital media agency Olive Global respectively.
As reported earlier, JSW Group has bagged the Bangalore franchise while veteran actor Dharmendra, along with CDR Group, has picked up the Punjab franchise. The Mumbai franchise has been bought by a consortium of Maverick Industries, Mafatlal, and Garudacharya.
The tournament that is set to kick off on 10 December will see six franchises with some of world-class grapplers in their fold.
Multi Screen Media (MSM) is the official broadcast partner of the league.
The six franchises are:
- Delhi Veer: GMR Group
- Bangalore Yodhha: JSW Group
- CDR Punjab Royals: CDR Group & Legendary Dharmendra
- UP Warriors: Lotus Greens
- Haryana Hammers: Olive Global
- Mumbaiche Garude: Maverick Industries, Mafatlal & Garudacharya
ProSportify CMD Kartikeya Sharma said, “The time is right for the wrestlers in the country and we are excited to launch our six teams for the inaugural edition of PWL. We welcome aboard our team owners and hope for a successful Season 1 of PWL.”
